For a long, long time the Silca 'Pista' or 'Super Pista' was the track (floor) pump of choice.  Reliable, simple, robust and rebuildable.

Then, maybe a cost cutting effort?  They replaced their almost indestructable brass, simple and rebuildable valve head with a fragile plastic one. What once was a reliable and dependable piece of equipment suddenly became a liability.  Trackies moaned, and this time, for good reason!
